Having been a CTE educator in Philadelphia for over two decades; Career and Technical Education has come to the forefront of educational experiences for our country’s adolescents. CTE combines two of the most critical factors to a young person’s success: student interest and practicality. While some young people will be academically successful, some need to explore their interests and aptitudes in different ways. Every student has interests and every student has different aptitudes. It’s our job to identify these two things, and education institutions owe it to them to help their students unlock their potential before graduating. We must encourage them to identify their professional and career path and help them build tangible, real-world skills.

This site, PhillyCTE, is a resource for any parent, student, or educator that wants to learn more about local, regional, and national CTE concepts, news, programming, and opportunities. The goal is to connect students and parents to the programming that’s out there so families can make the most informed decisions they can.

The other goal of this site is to look at the convergence of CTE and Education topics and try to make sense of them through the eyes of someone who has worked in education both as a teacher and administrator, as well as a parent and someone who had worked in private industry.
